Stapleton’s Community Space
Building Healthy Communities
The initiative is part of the Mayor's Action Plan for Neighborhood Safety (MAP), a comprehensive governmental and neighborhood-based strategy to reduce crime at 15 NYC Housing Authority developments through access to resources, vibrant physical spaces, and improved trust between residents and government. Sustrato led the design and budgeting workshops with the Stapleton Neighborhood Team for Stapleton's project. Residents were empowered through engagement in the collaborative process by making decisions on budget allocation and renovation work that appropriately aligned with their community's needs and goals. The proposal envisions an inclusive and flexible seating area to include all the community's programmatic wishes and needs.
